I have been using the Airflo polyleaders for a while now, but only the sinking ones for swinging to chrome……….
I recently started using the floating ones for my all- around trout fishing. They are awesome, especially with the new Stroft tippet materials. Very hassle free process and they cast like a dream…….I have been going mostly with the 5ft floater…….this allows me to be very versatile and jump from dries to nymphs quickly…..Our water here in the Adirondacks is very low, so the 8ft floater is coming out to play.I have had great results w/ the Stroft material…no knot failures, and I am able to use a stout tippet size due to their awesome lb test ratings…….
Thanks guys………
On another note, please come out to Pineville NY (Pulaski/ Salmon River) on June 19th for the Spey Nation event! I will be there w/ Jaime from the home office, and we will have all the goods……lines, rods, reels etc for your demo-ing pleasure. Also the new Speydicator line…….plus a free barbeque and sweet demos from many awesome casters……….See ya there.

I’m in love again…….
Friday, May 28th, 2010Eastern Swinging…….The revolution will be televised !
Monday, November 16th, 2009Just back from a trip to NY’s Salmon River. Spent 5 days swinging for chrome- conditions were : water=low, temps=low to mid 40’s. crowds= ugly. Managed to get some pulls fishing my 12′6″ 8wt w/ Delta and 3.9 14ft polyleader. Landed some beauties, the highlight was a 12 lb buck on my last day.
OK here’s the cool thing- I have never seen more people using two-handed rods and actually swinging flies(no split shot or indicators) . This is extremely encouraging! Also noticed alot of Airflo product on the rods…a mix of Deltas and Skagit compacts….and even a couple of scandi heads…………sweet!
Swivel Head Hatch……..
Wednesday, October 7th, 2009Yup, it’s fall in the ADKs the woodstoves are firing up, fish are fiesty and the leaves are just about peak…….tour buses and passenger cars from all over are creeping along the roads filled with the dreaded swivel head……a leaf peaker…..they love to stop roadside and photograph just about anything including anglers……..they are known to drive 25mph in a 55 and make you crazy on your way to a covted fishing spot! Seriously, fall fishing is on!- the browns are gorgeous as are the brookies…..only 9 days left in the regular season…..landlock salmon in the lake Champlain tribs… like their Atlantic cousins. salmo salar will drive you crazy, and a good day is …..” I got a hit!” a great fish to practice my spey casting on……..and Lord knows I sure need to practice!
If you don’t like the river……wait a minute.
Monday, August 3rd, 2009Ok, so out here in the East, we live in the fast lane…..this includes weather. My last post proclaimed low water and summer conditions…..but we have received some sweet rain and things are back on track. Great trout fishing for August……….Tricos are here and so are my dollar store glasses to see the little buggers. they are a hoot, and do bring some of the finest surface activity of the year………Isonychias are on deck,,,,,,,,
Wicked scorcher……..
Tuesday, July 28th, 2009Well the dream is dwindling here in the Adirondacks……..summer has made an appearance and made the trout fishing a tad challenging. Early mornings are the ticket and the tricos will be here soon. Still some mondo stoneflies around, the rocks are covered in shucks- (why do they pick one rock over the next? is it a social event- do they party?). Anyways, there’s always somewhere to fish up here. Small streams are a good bet for native brookies who are easily fooled…………come check it out. This is a great place to bring a family, we’ve got a ton of stuff to do- and you can go fishing.
Feast in the East……..
Friday, July 10th, 2009Hope this post doesnt blow the great run of luck we’ve had w/ the weather in the east! Trout fishing has held up superbly here in the Adirondacks of New York. face it, fly fishing is the only sport where you pray for rain and insects, and we’ve had a good amount of both. We are in stonefly season now, so grab a box of big stimmies and come check out Northern New York………(it’s not what you think it is…….).
